Stepping and unstepping the mast.
It is incredibly easy to raise and lower the mast by using the
supplied "A-frame" and the wrench on the boat. I can easily do it on my own. You
can leave all the stays and wires on the mast, and only remove the boom and
sails/lazy jacks ect.
This also makes midseason repairs and mods easy,
as it only takes about 30 minutes to step the mast, and no more than 15 minutes
to unstep. This is of course under the assumption that all stays are already
mounted and stay that way.
I can do that because I keep my boat on the trailer all season at my home harbor, in the summertime I can keep it with the
mast stepped thus being able to slip it in 10 minutes, this is highly recommended (if you cannot keep it in the water of course) as a total stepping of the mast from scratch would probably take 30-45 minutes for two guys.

Packed up for the winter
Lady Helen all packed up for the winter, I still need to jack up
the trailer onto metal stands in order to take the load of the wheels/bearings
ect during the off season. Will upload the picture later once I get it
done.

So I finally found time to jack up the trailer and boat and put some 3 tones jack-stands underneath the trailer. This way some of the weight is taken off the wheels and bearings for the coming 5 or 6 months of winter.
I just use an ordinary jack to lift up the trailer while the boat is on it, it is quite simple and only takes half an hour to put all six jacks in place. |
